Marriages are what you make them. The reasons for marriage are up to the individual. I have seen marriages begin for one reason and end for another. I don't think that a perfect marriage exists, but I would like to make mine as close to perfect as possible. By perfect, I mean happy with each other, having the same look of love as he did the first day he met me.
I don't know who I will wind up marrying if I don't stay single my whole life. But I do know one thing: I want to marry for love. I do not want to marry someone for their money/wealth or so that I won't be single my whole life and become a burden to my parents. Although those are benefits, I don't see how someone could have a happy marriage in a situation like that. I want whoever I marry to have the same reasons for marriage as I do. I want to experience true love, not see how fast my father can marry me off.

The Meryton Ball
My family was invited to the Meryton Ball last evening. Families from all over the area came to dance and fellowship with other people. However, this ball stood out among others we have been to. A new man who bought Netherfield, Mr. Bingley, attended this dance and brought four other guests. He brought his two sisters, one of their husbands, and his friend.
Mr. Bingley danced with my eldest sister, Jane, more than any of the other girls. I could tell that he had a real liking for her. He tried to convince his friend, Mr. Darcy, to dance with a girl. Mr. Darcy seemed to be filled with pride and said that Bingley was dancing with the only pretty girl in the room. I took that as a compliment for my sister, and an insult to myself. Bingley tried to get him to dance with me, but he said I wasn't tempting enough. Fine by me.

Here is a picture of the families who attended the Meryton Ball.
I hate to be prejudice, but...
Miss Bingley and Mrs. Hurst are a couple of interesting women. It is hard to tell what their real motives are. I do not care whether they like me or not, though I am leaning more toward the not. However, I can't tell if they really like Jane or not. They sent her a letter inviting her to Netherfield to dine with them. Is it some sort of set up or do they really like her? Will they fill her head with bad things about Bingley?
I hate to be prejudice, especially since Jane seems to like them. However, she may just be trying to get along with them for Bingley's sake. Jane does try to please people and make them happy. I just wish she would be herself, but I do hope for the best between Jane and Bingley. I just hope that Mrs. Hurst and Miss Bingley are being genuine.

The Letter
The relationship between Darcy and I became awkward after his propsal. I thought I was not even tempting enough for him! I must admit that it was shocking to hear of his love for me. After rejecting him, I wished I had thought about it before reacting on my impulse. If he asked me again, I would say yes.
Darcy gave me a letter. In it was the truth about Wickham and why he wouldn't make a good husband. He tried to elope with Darcy's sister, Georgiana, for her money. I would be very upset if he ever tried to do that with one of my sisters, so I can see why Darcy is angry. I wouldn't talk to Wickham either. I now have different thoughts about Darcy and I will be more open to listen to what he has to say.

Who saw this coming?
I never would have thought this would ever happen. I, Elizabeth Bennet, am to marry Darcy. I despised his pride and never wished to speak to him. I guess we overcame our faults and saw the positive things in each other. His first proposal was a shock to me. However, the second was an even greater surprize.
After complaining about Darcy to my family all the time, convincing my father I really was in love with Darcy was difficult. He couldn't believe I loved him, but he was grateful for the marriage. It would at least calm my crazy mother down. We shall soon be married and it will be for true love, just like I wanted it. I didn't do it for money, it was just one blessing that came along with Darcy.

What have I learned from Lizzy?
Elizabeth and I have a lot in common. I seem to be able to relate to her very easily. I am an independent person and would rather do things by myself. I am also the second oldest. I do not live to please people or strive to make them like me. Love me or hate me, I really don't care which one you choose. Just don't act one way to my face and another behind my back.
It seems that this is how Lizzy feels. She is independent and has a strong opinion, revealing what is on her mind rather or not you want to hear it. Determination is one characteristic I value in Lizzy because I think that is what moves you in life. If you are not determined to do something with your life, you will not get very far. Lizzy is a positive example of good determination.
